F# Minor - Fusion Backing Track (i V, 136bpm)

You can practice your chord playing, solo over the track, or jam along on bass or drums. Chord i from the key of F# minor: F#m7, F#m6. Chord V from the key of F# minor: C#7, C#9, C#7#9, C#7#5#9. If you want to simplify the chords, just play F#m and C#7. The F#m6 chord (F#, A, C#, D#) suggests the the F# dorian mode: F#, G#, A, B, C#, D#, E. The C dorian mode also works over F#m7 (F#, A, C#, E), so you can play F# dorian for the whole F#m section. The C#7 chord (C#, E#, G#, B) suggests the F# harmonic minor scale: F#, G#, A, B, C#, D, E#. The C#9 chord (C#, E#, G#, B, D#) suggests the F# melodic minor scale: F#, G#, A, B, C#, D#, E#. The C#7#9 chord (C#, E#, G#, B, E) contains both E and E#, so the F# dorian mode or F# harmonic minor scale should work. The C#7#5#9 chord (C#, E#, A, B, E) contains both E and E#, so the F# dorian mode or F# harmonic minor scale should work. You could also use the C# whole tone scale: C#, D#, F, G, A, B. A simpler approach would be to use the F# dorian mode over the whole F#m section, and the F# harmonic minor scale over the whole C#7 section. You can also use arpeggios of course, and pentatonic and blues scales!
