The ancient Spaniards who brought it to the island were wiped out by monstrous, fast-moving creatures—former humans twisted by exposure to the sarcophagus. Roman, obsessed with power, believes El Dorado will grant him supernatural dominance, unaware that it brings only death. The story reaches its climax when Nathan confronts Roman as he opens the sarcophagus. Roman is instantly killed by the curse, transforming before dying in terror. Nathan and Elena fight their way through the infected creatures as the island collapses around them. Sully, revealed to be alive, rescues them in a dramatic escape. Together, they flee the island, abandoning the cursed treasure forever. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune blends adventure, mystery, and supernatural horror, establishing the series’ tone of cinematic storytelling and character-driven action.
