The Absolute State of Manga 2023-2024

Explanation: I wrote down the placements of the Top 500 for each of the three main lists on MyAnimeList: Popularity: How many users added the manga to their account Score: How well the manga was rated by its users Favorites: How many users manually added the manga to their own list of favorites This procedure was done on the first day of 2023 and 2024 respectively. This list is sorted by their average placement over all three lists. Thus, the 200 manga with the lowest overall averages are shown and compared to their rankings of the previous year. If two manga share the exact same average, the Score category serves as the first tiebreaker and the Favorites category serves as the second tiebreaker. If a manga doesn't appear in the Top 500 of one of the three lists, they will always receive a "501" in that place. This is to ensure that certain manga that are especially strong in two of the three categories still have a chance to make the cut, although with a proper handicap. This is NOT an objective list. While it is based on the data of thousands of MyAnimeList users, it is still only a tiny fraction of the worldwide manga community. It is important to take these rankings with a grain of salt.
