True Inverted Aeropress

True Inverted Aeropress

The idea was to use the Aeropress to make a "pure" immersion brew, instead of combined percolation and immersion. Usually you would press the water through a bed of coffee grounds, while here the grounds are settled at the bottom and don't get extracted even more. This theoretically could reduce astringency, as astringent molecules in coffee are postulated to be extracted by fast flow through a coffee bed, especially in channels. Additionally, the clarity compared to something similar like the french press is increased, and it is possible to grind finer than with traditional french press methods. This definitely isn't just a more convoluted, risky french press.
