Minivan Explodes After Crashing In Front Of SDPD MidCity Substation

On 10/21/21 at approximately 2:05 AM, San Diego Police heard a crash outside the MidCity SDPD Substation. Responding Officers dispatched for San Diego Fire Rescue to respond due to the car catching fire. Officers attempted to douse the small flames with fire extinguishers to no avail. The car became almost fully involved and nearby vegetation started to catch fire. SDFD arrived and had the fire under control within 5 minutes. According to SDPD, the driver was detained for suspicion of DUI.
