2013, PS3, X360, PC. Rating: 2 out of 4 stars On the one hand, I can’t blame WB Games Montreal opting to go for a DLC where they take the basic inspiration from the classic animated show Heart of Ice, which was our first glimpse of the new Mr. Freeze as a character. It’s an all-time great episode full of pathos and memorable moments. So it’s only natural they would repeat it here. Too bad that drains a lot of the suspense and excitement out of the proceedings. It’s also got fetch quests that come off as padding (mostly related to the Penguin, who is a tertiary antagonist in this). It also doesn’t bring much new to combat other than thermal gloves and enemies with ice weapons. In terms of character development and writing, they stick close to the general script and even the boss fight with Mr. Freeze will be familiar to those who played Arkham City. As a story extension, it doesn’t mine new or interesting ground and playing through all this makes me rather want to watch the episode again. It’s more involving and takes about 20% of the time to get through.
