As requested, here is a benchmark look at Team Fortress 2 running on Ubuntu and Windows. My apologies to those in the past who requested this multiple times, and I did not deliver. I did try, but would also encounter something that would prevent me from successfully completing this benchmark (whether technical or not). Timeline: 1. Intro 0:00 2. Min Settings benchmark 0:43 3. Max Settings benchmark 5:50 4. Summary 10.57 Nvidia 349.12 was used on Ubuntu, whilst Nvidia 347.88 was used on Windows. This video is slightly longer than normal, due to me trying to play as many classes as possible. If you're interested in running through the same benchmark, just download my .dem file here and run it in TF2: https://mega.co.nz/#!tk4j2CbQ!k8vBJ0I... I run through two scenarios, one is minimum graphical settings and the other is maximum graphical settings. The Linux port utilizes OpenGL 3 while the Windows port utilizes Direct3D 9 for graphics rendering. I may have made mistakes, and if I have done so, please forgive me and correct me in the comments. I've tried to do this benchmark to the best of my knowledge and capabilities. My verdict: An impressive feat by Valve, considering there should still be overhead by the ToGL layer that translates the D3D calls. This one is an Ubuntu/Linux win in my books. I used GLXOSD for the OSD on Ubuntu. I used MSI Afterburner for the OSD on Windows. WARNING: AMD and Intel graphics users will experience vastly different results. It all depends on your drivers and how well AMD and Intel decides to make them. This is a good fun Linux port from Valve, so if you are into competitive comedic first person shooters go and play this game! It's FREE!
