LIVE | Kenya Protest: Parliament Stormed As Tax Hike Protests Escalate | Palki Sharma | N18G In Kenya, mass protests against the proposed tax hikes, have turned violent. Parts of Kenya's Parliament building were set on fire today (June 25, 2024) amid protests over a new financial bill. Kenyans have been protesting for days, asking their government to revoke the new bill. While these protests have largely been non-violent, things took a violent turn after Police allegedly attacked protesters with tear gas. Reports say that at least ten protesters have died after Police fired shots on protesters in the capital city of Nairobi. Thousands of protesters took to the streets across the country to protest against the finance bill, which aims to raise an additional $2.7 billion in taxes in a bid to lighten the heavy debt load.
