Spain prepares to deport 269 telecom fraud suspects to China

Spain will deport over 200 people from the Taiwan region back to the Chinese mainland. These people were detained at the end of 2016 amid their involvement in a telecom fraud ring. In 2016, Spanish and Chinese police launched a joint operation to crack down on the illegal operation and arrested a total number of 269 suspects. On February 17, 2017, the Spanish government said those arrested would be deported to China. The Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council says the scam's victims and all pieces of evidence are in the Chinese mainland, and the deportations are being carried out in accordance with relevant laws.
