ACCORDING to wikipedia Monument Valley is a puzzle game developed and published by the independent studio Ustwo. The player controls Princess Ida through labyrinths of optical illusions and impossible objects. Monument Valley was developed for ten months, starting in early 2013, based on conceptual drawings by artist Ken Wong. Its visual style was inspired by Japanese prints, minimalist sculptures and independent games Windosill, FEZ and Sword & Sworcery, and was compared by critics to the drawings of M. C. Escher and Echochrome. The art was designed in such a way that each painting would be open to public exposure. After a private beta test, the game was released for iOS on April 3, 2014, and then ported to Android, Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile. The game generally received positive reviews. Critics highlighted its art and sound design, but highlighted the lack of difficulty and the short duration. The game won the 2014 Apple Design Award, was named the best iPad game of 2014, and sold over two million copies as of January 2015.
