ROK-US conduct joint naval drill in waters around Korean Peninsula

South Korea and the United States began a week-long joint naval drill in waters around the Korean Peninsula on Monday. A spokesman from South Korea's defense ministry said about 40 navy ships from both countries, including the nuclear-powered USS Ronald Reagan aircraft carrier, will participate in the exercises from October 16 to 20. Previous joint military exercises have provoked the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to respond with a missile launch.
