Kevin Nason, N4XL delivers a detailed presentation to the Deep Dixie Contest Club -- and invited members from several other ham radio clubs around the world -- to enhance the education, effectiveness, and efficiency of operators in this important hobby. [NOTICE!! This video MAY be replaced with another one that cures some of the problems with this recording. The Internet was dropping out repeatedly for our presenter--and had some rather serious delay in delivering the slides. So, while you bear with us and gain the most possible from the excellent instruction offered here, we continue to work on possible solutions.] Presentation Abstract: If you want to have a strong signal at the other end of your path, then radio wave take-off angles are arguably in the top two or three things to understand about your antenna system. After discovering that fact, Kevan, N4XL, asked himself how high should his HF antenna be? Higher is better, right? Usually, but not always. Higher towers mean more cost, more complexity, and greater maintenance. It also turns out higher does not always give you the strongest signal. Join Kevan as he shares information learned while making that important station design decision. [Check back here later for a downloadable PDF file of Kevan's presentation slides.)
