BIG NEWS! Gervonta Davis WARNED OF INCREDIBLE DIFFICULTIES IN THE FIGHT Shakur Stevenson Haney Shawn Porter Reacts To Gervonta Davis Saying He Would KO Crawford: “He’s A Big Bully” Despite the weight classes currently between them, there has been talk in the boxing world over how a potential super fight between Terence Crawford and Gervonta Davis would play out. Davis, who has mostly campaigned at lightweight in recent years, boldly claimed he would stop newly crowned undisputed welterweight champion Crawford in six rounds. However, in a recent interview with FightHype, former Crawford opponent Shawn Porter admitted he does not feel that would be case. “I don’t think that ‘Tank’ would stop Crawford. I think that’s a big bully up there at 147.” With Crawford now the consensus pound for pound number one after his masterclass against Errol Spence at the T-Mobile Arena, and ‘Tank’ one of the biggest commercial draws in the sport, an all American dust up between the pair would no doubt generate huge numbers at both the live gate and on pay per view. However, one would imagine the huge gulf in size between the pair means it is a fight that is unlikely to ever take place – though it’s a funny old world and stranger things have happened. Should a rematch between he and Spence not materialise, ‘Bud’ has made no secret of the fact that he wishes to take on undisputed light middleweight world champion Jermell Charlo next, whilst it remains unclear who three weight world champion Davis’ next foe will be. As for Davis, the Baltimore puncher has recently been released from jail, and is expected to be back in the ring either late this year or in early 2024. “He Can’t Do That”: Devin Haney Accused Of Having No Confidence In Himself Devin Haney has made the decision to move up to super-lightweight to challenge for a fresh world title after gaining all four belts at 135lbs. He landed on the latter, and is slated to announce a fight with 140lbs WBC champ, Regis Prograis. Despite that call, he petitioned with the sanctioning body to keep his belt at lightweight at the same time. Prograis – who promises to knock Haney ‘the f**k out’ – told ES News that his rival was trying to have a ‘protection plan.’ “It’s bulls**t – he can’t keep his belts. Mauricio [WBC] should strip him, let somebody else fight for all them belts at 135. He tryna have a protection plan. He tryna come up to 140, see if he can get this belt – which he not gonna get, I’m gonna knock him the f**k out, beat him up bad – and then try to have a cushion at 135 to say ‘I’m still undisputed.’ No. We not doing that. If you coming to fight me, you stay at 140. You gotta fight me for my belt, and that’s how it’s gonna be. Have confidence in yourself. I signed my part, now it’s on him to sign his part.” It’s been a satisfying week for Terence Crawford. He emerged as the undisputed winner in the welterweight division against Errol Spence Jr. In the wake of a very one-sided fight, the boxing fraternity jumped in to commend Crawford for his dominant performance. ‘Bud’ seized control over the bout in the first few rounds itself, but a very determined Errol did not give up. Taking relentless punishment from ‘Bud’, the resilient Spence kept on going until the bout was stopped by the referee in the ninth round. As usual, in the wake of such a high-stake bout, many boxers have jumped in to challenge Terence. One of them of course is Spence Jr. who has shown interest in invoking the rematch clause in their deal. But the second one comes from someone who is not particularly close to the welterweight division. Indeed, Gervonta Davis has time and again proved his prowess in the boxing ring. The undefeated 3-division world champion rightly inherits the nickname of being called, ‘The Tank.’ He recently secured a sensational victory against Ryan Garcia via knockout in April. The lightweight boxer has now expressed his desire to move up to the welterweight division to fight against Terence. And, Davis also claimed that he could beat Bud in just six rounds. In an interview when asked about the outcome of the matchup if it were to take place, Davis said, “He got no chance, I got him in round six.” Terence Crawford who is known for his panache in responding to his opponents and contemporaries said in a recent interview, “You know you look at all the great fighters being called out by everybody from different weight classes. Tank is in his weight class for a reason. I don’t see him coming to 147, face me no time.” Bud sets his eye on his next opponent As it is yet to be determined when the rematch between Terence and Errol would take place, the former has revealed the opponent he wants to fight next. ‘Bud’ is currently the only boxer in history to become undisputed in two consecutive weight divisions: light welterweight and welterweight. However, right after his historic win against ‘The Truth’ , the boxer mentioned that he wished to take on Jermell Charlo next.
