He was best known as a Muslim missionary, who held numerous inter-religious public debates with evangelical Christians like Jimmy Swaggart, Anis Shorrosh, Pastor Stanley, Robert Douglas to name a few and also gave many speeches on Qur'an and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as well as video lectures on Islam, Christianity, and the Bible. Ahmed Deedat established the IPCI, an international Islamic missionary organisation, and wrote several widely distributed booklets on Islam and Christianity. He was awarded the King Faisal International Prize in 1986 for his fifty years of missionary work. He wrote and lectured in English. He aimed at providing Muslims with theological tools for defending themselves against the intense missionary striving of many Christian denominations. He used English instead of Arabic or any other language to get his message across to Muslim minorities in the western world.
