Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia - World wonder or Lithium mine for Electric cars, phone batteries?

In 2018 I was in Bolivia. I saw a magical landscape, and was in awe for 3 days. Untill I learned Bolivia wanted to sell this entire area out for Lithium mining purposes! Claiming that current Battery technology is clean is a fairytale.. See this beautiful landscape? This is where the world gets their Lithium from now for all our batteries.. There have been succesful experiments with new technologies but because it is less profitable yet to use those, or there is not enough scientific funding to implement these, the manufacturers stick with Lithium. European, American, Dutch, or any nations' science funds should go to implementation and discovery of new battery technologies because at the current rate, we will end up polluting as much or more than we did with Fossil fuels.
