Afghanistan: Alaska's Spartan Brigade
Channel 2 News traveled more than 5,000 miles to the front lines in Afghanistan in 2018 to embed with and profile the service members of Alaska's 4-25 Spartan Brigade from Joint Base Elmendorf in Anchorage. KTUU Reporter Blake Essig and KTUU Photojournalist Albert Lutan traveled through some of the most dangerous areas of the world, where the U.S. military continues its "advise and assist" role training Afghan troops. This ABA entry includes 3 reports which aired in Channel 2 newscasts, as part of a 10-part series over the course of 2 weeks.
