U.S. soldiers conduct air assault exercise in South Korea

U.S. soldiers conducted an air assault exercise on Sunday (March 19), part of ongoing joint drills with South Korea. At the Rodriguez Live Complex in Pocheon, north of Seoul, less than 30 km (19 miles) from the heavily fortified border with North Korea, military helicopters transported a M777 Howitzer used in air assault training. The excerise, "Freedom Shield 23”, comes amid North Korea’s missile provocations. North Korea fired a ballistic missile towards the sea off the east coast of the Korean Peninsula on Sunday (March 19) and the missile flew some 800 km (500 miles) before hitting a target, according to a South Korean military statement.
