PSAD Refresher 2: Thin-Walled Vessel subject to Internal Pressure and Axial Force (Mohr's Circle)

SITUATION 2: A thin-walled cylindrical pressure vessel is subjected to an internal pressure “p” and an axial compressive force “F”. The resulting tensile stresses are shown in the corresponding Mohr’s Circle. The cylinder has a diameter of 500 mm and wall thickness of 3mm. 4. Determine the internal pressure “p” in MPa. 5. Determine the axial force “F” in kN. 6. Determine the maximum in-plane shear stress in MPa. Thanks for watching! Comment for questions and suggestions for future lecture in this series.
