Pistol-whipped, shot in the face and left for dead during an attempted carjacking at the Alamo Quarry Market, a San Antonio woman wants everyone to know she has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, only three weeks after the violent confrontation that nearly took her life. "I still can't fully wrap my head around it," says a smiling Alana Castaneda, 27. "Why did I get so lucky?" "Lucky" isn't necessarily a word you'd expect to hear from someone who recently suffered a gunshot wound to the face, but it's clear Castaneda truly feels that way. "I'm in a good mindset," she insists. "It could have been so much worse. Everyone tells me I'm like a walking miracle. The doctors are just like, 'Wow.'" Castaneda has been chronicling her recovery in a series of social media posts that began mere hours after the shooting and continue to this day.
