The Meeting of Titans in America: Kalashnikov, Stoner, and Two Firearms that Changed the World

In May of 1990, right as the Cold War was coming to a close, General Mikhail Kalashnikov, inventor of the AK-47 rifle, met with Eugene Stoner, inventor of the M-16rifle, in the United States. This meeting of 2 titan firearms designers was probably the most unique of its kind ever as their creations faced each other on Cold War battlefields all over the world for more than half a century. Hear from several members Virginia Gun Collectors Association who accompanied Kalashnikov on his first trip to the United States in 1990, when he met Eugene Stone, and several anecdotes of Kalashnikovs subsequent trips back to the U.S. All footage is used with permission from the Smithsonian Institution Archives.
