NYC Subway: Grand Central bound R62A 42 St Shuttle Train entering Grand Central

A NYC Subway 42nd Street Shuttle train consisting of Bombardier R62A railcars enters the Grand Central-42nd Street station. Note that the 42nd Street shuttle is currently undergoing a multi-year reconstruction project, which will lengthen the trains from 3 or 4 to 6 cars, widen the platforms at both terminals, and reduce the number of tracks from 3 to 2. During reconstruction, only tracks 3 and 4 are in service. In addition, the train on track 3 is running with only three cars in service; you can see a fourth car running in deactivated mode at the eastern end (with the lights off). That car is running simply to reduce the amount of operational differences the crew encounters. Taken Thursday, January 2, 2020.
