To turn on and setup guide, watch my separate tutorial in the video description. The first way is through the Translate app. Tap the Live tab, pick the other person’s language, then choose your own—like English. Hit Start Translation, pop in your AirPods, and you’ll hear their voice translated right into your ears, while the text also shows on your iPhone. You can leave the app running in the background, just don’t close it. The second way is with the Action button. Go into Settings, set the Action button to Translate, then press and hold until you feel the haptic feedback. The Live Translate banner shows up, and you’ll hear the translation instantly. Tap the notch to see the text and close it when you’re done. The third way doesn’t even need your iPhone. Just press and hold the stems on both AirPods at the same time. Even with your iPhone locked, the screen shows the translation, and you can stop it anytime by tapping Close. The fourth way is using Siri. Just say, “Siri, start Live Translation.” If Siri isn’t set up, you’ll need to turn on Hey Siri first. Once it’s ready, your iPhone automatically starts Live Translate and shows it on screen. The fifth way is with the Control Center shortcut. Swipe down from the top right, tap Translate, and if it’s not there, add it from settings. With one tap, Live Translate starts right on your AirPods. The sixth way is straight from the Lock Screen. Touch and hold your iPhone lock screen until it goes into edit mode, then verify with Face ID or your passcode. Tap Customize at the bottom, remove a shortcut with the minus button, then hit the plus to add a new one. Search for the Translate shortcut and add it to the lock screen. Now, just hold that shortcut button to launch Live Translation with your AirPods instantly. That’s a slick way to keep Live Translation rolling silently—whether you’re at a round-table talk, out shopping, traveling, or anywhere else.
