The George Kaiser Family Foundation Award for Community: City Rescue Mission Since 1960, City Rescue Mission has provided emergency housing to people experiencing homelessness. From the early days of serving homeless men to now serving men, women and families with children, City Rescue Mission helps people find solutions to their homelessness. Under the leadership of Rev Tom Jones, President and CEO, City Rescue Mission provides outcome driven services that focus on moving people from poverty to self-sufficiency. In the last quarter of 2014, 81% of the people served through City Rescue Mission’s Recovery service, have gone from homelessness to safe, affordable and sustainable housing. Formerly homeless people, who receive help to thrive, decrease the dependency on public benefits and actively contribute to the overall economic development of the community.
