(4 Aug 2012) STORYLINE: Britain's rowers won two golds and a silver at the Olympics on Saturday, sparking special celebrations at a countryside boat club on the River Thames outside London. Two of the medallists - Andy Triggs Hodge and Tom James - are members of Molesey Boat Club. The club was packed out as other members gathered to see their triumph on television, reaching a loud and jubilant crescendo when the boat of the British men's coxless four crossed the finish line to win gold. The President of Molesey Boat Club, Ian Knight, called it "a huge, huge privilege to have guys like that who have been members of this club." British rowers doubled their gold-medal haul on the final day of the Olympic regatta with victories by the men's four and the lightweight women's double sculls, leaving the host nation at the top of the rowing medals table. The British finished with nine medals - four golds, two silvers and three bronzes - to surpass the country's record total of eight from the 1908 Olympics, which was also held in London.
