Saturday, June 29, 2013. Gabrielle Giffords is the founder of Americans for Responsible Solutions. She was elected to represent southern Arizona six times, three terms in the state legislature and three in Congress. Since the assassination attempt on her life in 2011 that killed six people, Giffords' resilience in the face of violence has inspired people throughout the country and world. Americans for Responsible Solutions has brought Americans of all perspectives together to fight for common sense solutions to reduce gun violence that protect the 2nd Amendment rights. Mark Kelly is co-founder of Americans for Responsible Solutions. He is a retired astronaut and US Navy captain with 6,000 flight hours in more than 50 different aircraft. He flew his first of four missions in 2001 aboard Space Shuttle Endeavour and commanded its final flight in 2011. With his wife, former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, Kelly founded Americans for Responsible Solutions, which works to protect 2nd Amendment rights and keep communities and families safer by working for commonsense solutions to gun violence. The Aspen Ideas Festival is the nation's premier, public gathering place for leaders from around the globe and across many disciplines to engage in deep and inquisitive discussion of the ideas and issues that both shape our lives and challenge our times.
