Happy First Sunday of Advent from wintry Nagoya! Here with our Filipino community, the trees are brown and bare from the freezing cold. But amidst the gloom, the evergreens remain green, and the "Kan Zakura"—a winter cherry blossom—is fully in bloom! Brothers and sisters, be like the evergreen and the winter cherry! Even in the coldest winters of your life, or amidst the suffering of our people back home, do not wither in despair. Instead, choose to bloom, choose to share, and choose to remain an evergreen of hope. Let us prepare our hearts for the Baby Jesus not by freezing up, but by bringing warmth, peace, and reconciliation to everyone we meet. Stay strong, and bloom for the Lord!
