"Healing the Healers" with Dr. Mike Schwartz
Dr. Mike Schwartz is the Director of Addiction Medicine at All Points North Lodge, a health and wellness campus specializing in addiction, mental health, and trauma therapy. In this collaboration, iCAAD interviews Dr. Schwartz on the integrative medical and whole-person approach to mental health and addiction at APN Lodge. In addition, Dr. Schwartz talks "Healing the Healers." In healthcare, stress and burnout can often loom over workers. Dr. Schwartz is passionate about the idea that addiction does not discriminate. For healthcare workers, it can be difficult to admit that you, as a helper, may need help sometimes too. Alcoholism and drug addiction should be treated as a brain disease to eliminate stigma. In addition to treating healthcare professionals with trauma, mental health, and addiction, Dr. Schwartz also advocates for their rights, care, and treatment.
