Picture of Saddam Hussein on gatepost today STORYLINE: UN arms inspectors continued their work on Sunday, with visits to sites in Mosul, Basra and Baghdad. In Baghdad, sites visited included a detergent factory and a military hospital. The Al Basil detergent factory visited is housed in the same complex as the National Monitoring Directorate, or NMD. Earlier, it was believed the inspectors had been visiting the NMD, the headquarters of the Iraqi liaison officers who work with the inspectors in their daily searches. Inspectors also paid a visit to Baghdad's Al-Rasheed Military Hospital. Under U.N. Security Council resolutions, the U.N. inspectors must certify Iraq is free of banned weapons before economic sanctions on the country can be lifted. The sanctions were imposed after Iraq invaded neighboring Kuwait in 1990.
