Munich Security Conference 2026: Closing Remarks by Chairman Wolfgang Ischinger | MSC 2026 | BR24

Conference chairman Wolfgang Ischinger concluded the 62nd Munich Security Conference. In his closing remarks, he emphasized that, according to Chancellor Merz, the existing international system is already history. It has not only "come under attack, but it no longer exists, it is over." US Secretary of State Rubio, on the other hand, spoke of a "need for renewal." With regard to Europe, Ischinger said that what is needed now is more than just further speeches – a plan and concrete action. However, he noted that he had witnessed "European unity" at the conference. -- Heads of state and government, foreign and defense ministers and leading experts from around the world will gather to debate the future of the global order at MSC 2026. From Friday to Sunday, BR24live will publish selected speeches and panels.
