Air Is Needed For Burning - Air is Necessary For Burning This is a simple activity/experiment for kids at home to show that air (oxygen) is needed for burning. Steps: 1) Take 3 candles and light them. 2) Put a small glass over first candle, medium glass over second candle and leave third candle as it is. Observation: The first candle goes off after some time. After that the second candle goes off. But the third one keeps burning. Explanation: When we put the glass over the candle, it will keep burning for some time because there is still some air inside the glass. When that air’s oxygen is finished, it goes off.
