Viking Dishwasher Troubleshooting

I need your help with Viking dishwasher troubleshooting. If the heavy wash light, the one with the pot, is flashing, the unit thinks there is too much water in it. If the float isn’t stuck too high, empty it yourself and then call for service. I’ve had more problems with the float being cracked and full of water and sinking, turning off the water inflow too soon. If the light china light is flashing, the thing thinks there’s a problem with the water inlet. Which one is the light china light? That’s the one that looks like a wine glass. The error usually means the water valve is stuck shut. If the water valve was stuck open, that’s more obvious – water pouring into the unit whether you want it or not. And water pouring onto the floor, which you do not want. If the pots and pans button and heavy lights both flash, that’s a blocked drain. That’s usually obvious, when the food is caked around it because no one wanted to scrape off the mashed potatoes and gravy just like they didn’t want to eat it. The blockage may be in the drain pipe too, like a big chunk of food or grease finally closing it off. How can I tell? Lift up the course strainer, clean that, unscrew the fine strainer and clean that. If the light still flashes, check that the drain hose isn’t kinked. It is not like I’m moving the hose around like a spray shower head. Then make sure the air gap to the garbage disposal isn’t blocked. If food got in their from either the garbage disposal in the sink or through the drain in the dishwasher, it could be clogged up. Or the valves or tubes just need to be replaced. If the lights are not flashing, Viking’s manual has advice like make sure the delayed start isn’t on before you assume something wrong when it won’t come on. I’d say that was stupid if I did not know how many HVAC repair calls were because people turned down the thermostat but didn’t switch from heat to cool. If it is not cleaning well, they suggest using a vinegar rinse to clean films and spotting, or using citric acid crystals. If it is a choice between smelling like oranges and pickles, I choose oranges. If the strainers and drains are clean but the dishes aren’t, make sure the wash arms can spin freely and there isn’t a blockage like little corn kernels stuck in all the holes. That’s oddly specific. That’s oddly why my dishes didn’t get clean once, after the corn fell off the bowls on the top level.
