Good morning and welcome to the celebration of the Holy Mass on this Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Advent. This morning is the end of the Advent season. We will light the four Advent Candles for the last time. In our First Reading today, David wants to give praise and glory to God by building Him a proper place to live rather than just in a tent. But he soons finds out that this is not the Lord's way. God promises David a house, that will last forever. In our Gospel, we hear of Zechariah's faith being restored. Even though, the name John was not part of their family tree, he wrote on a tablet that his son's name was John. At that moment his mouth was opened and he began praising God. His hymn of praise declared that the dawn from on high will break upon us to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. O Christ, you are the Radiant Dawn, the splendor of eternal light, shine on us and turn our darkness into light. Let us wait in expectant hope for the coming of our Lord as we participate in our Christmas Liturgies. Our Responsorial Psalm today is Psalm 89: For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
