Sincere but Wrong? When Effort Isn’t Enough Proverbs 14:12 Explained You’ve probably heard this scripture before describes: “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death.” Proverbs 14:12 Maybe your pastor has quoted it. Maybe a friend has warned you with it. But let’s go deeper. This verse is not saying you’re lazy or wicked. In fact, it assumes something important: you’re trying. You’re sincere. You’re making effort. You may even be passionate, and that’s good. But here’s the danger: sincerity does not guarantee correctness. You can be sincere and still be wrong. Effort does not always equal accuracy. That’s why Scripture says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Hosea 4:6 You can run with energy and still arrive at destruction if the direction is wrong. So here’s the lesson: Don’t just move fast, move right. Let the Word of God be your compass, not just your motivation. If you’re not following me on YouTube yet, please do.
