New Guitar tutorials every Monday, subscribe and learn! Today we are going to look at some double stops in the style of Jimi Hendrix, most of the inspiration for this lesson came from his phrasing of the Wind Cries Mary Solo where he uses these ideas for over half of the solo. Jimi Hendrix was a guitar master, especially when it came to shredding out some crazy overdriven fuzzy guitar solos. To learn to play like him you should really learn a couple of his solos from his studio albums verbatim, but if you really want to be able to solo like him you should also be able to use his general techniques fluidly in improvisational settings in many keys. Today we are looking at his use of double stops with the Shape 2 extension moving back to the shape 1. The idea is to get the base lick down as well as the two shapes and experiment and learn to improvise with it so you can use it any time you want in any genre or setting and in any key.
