Morel picking after the 2023 forest fires

The calm after the storm … morels after a wildfire. We don’t get this opportunity every day so I pulled the kiddos from school/childcare and we hooked up with my parents and picked morel mushrooms. Amongst the bugs, heat, bumpy roads and meltdowns we had a great time and definitely made a lot of memories. We love eating morels but we picked a lot, so we sold some and then dried a bunch for our own consumption. This is the mushroom picking knife I was using.
