The Resident Patient (Part 1 of 2) - The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes

The Resident Patient (Part 1 of 2) - The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes

The Resident Patient (Part 1 of 2) Description: After an evening constitutional, Holmes and Watson arrive home to find an unexpected visitor who brings a curious problem. Note: Welcome back to our channel! The ninth of 12 stories in “The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes” is “The Resident Patient (1893).” The story goes back to the time Holmes and Watson had just become roommates. An interesting note is that some editions of “The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes” have a different beginning for this tale because the author reused the beginning of “The Adventure of the Cardboard Box” when the latter tale was removed for moral reasons. Chronologically speaking, “The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes” series is the 4th Holmes book, published after “A Study in Scarlet (1887),” “The Sign of the Four (1890)” and “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (1891~92).” The series was published in the Strand Magazine from 1892 to 1893. It is the second Holmes book that Sidney Paget was commissioned to illustrate. If you haven’t listened to the previous series, please check them out by clicking the links below. The story was originally written as a single “short story,” but we divided it into two parts for length. After putting together an almost hour-long video in the past, we decided that length was more than I could handle on a regular basis. We mean no disrespect to Conan Doyle, but dividing each story in a few parts seemed to make sense to us while still working a day job. We hope you enjoy listening to Richard’s take on “The Resident Patient!” The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes “The Crooked Man” Part 1:    • The Crooked Man (Part 1 of 2) - The Memoir...   “The Reigate Squires” Part 1:    • The Reigate Squires (Part 1 of 3) - The Me...   Part 2:    • The Reigate Squires (Part 2 of 3) - The Me...   Part 3:    • The Reigate Squires (Part 3 of 3) - The Me...   “The Musgrave Ritual” Part 1:    • The Musgrave Ritual (Part 1 of 3) - The Me...   Part 2:    • The Musgrave Ritual (Part 2 of 3) - The Me...   Part 3:    • The Musgrave Ritual (Part 3 of 3) - The Me...   The “Gloria Scott” Part 1:    • The “Gloria Scott” (Part 1 of 2) - The Mem...   Part 2:    • The “Gloria Scott” (Part 2 of 2) - The Mem...   The Stockbroker’s Clerk Part 1:    • The Stockbroker’s Clerk (Part 1 of 2) - Th...   Part 2:    • The Stockbroker’s Clerk (Part 2 of 2) - Th...   The Yellow Face Part 1:    • The Yellow Face (Part 1 of 2) - The Memoir...   Part 2:    • The Yellow Face (Part 2 of 2) - The Memoir...   The Adventure of The Cardboard Box Part 1:    • The Adventure of The Cardboard Box (Part 1...   Part 2:    • The Adventure of The Cardboard Box (Part 2...   “Silver Blaze” - The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes Part 1:    • Silver Blaze (Part 1 of 3) - The Memoirs o...   Part 2:    • Silver Blaze (Part 2 of 3) - The Memoirs o...   Part 3:    • Silver Blaze (Part 3 of 3) - The Memoirs o...   “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” playlist:    • "A Scandal in Bohemia" by Sir Arthur Conan...   “The Sign of the Four” playlist:    • “The Sign of the Four” Chapter 1: The Scie...   “A Study in Scarlet” playlist:    • “A Study in Scarlet” Part 1 - Chapter 1: M...   Our website: https://www.storytimebyrichardslater.com About Copyright: At Story Time by Richard Slater, we create videos of classic books of our choice that are public domain. ********** About the channel: Here at "Story Time by Richard Slater," Richard reads his favorite books from the past, and his lovely wife adds the images for them.
