Today I followed a creative impulse and threw a piece on the wheel without looking at it. I wanted to rely purely on touch — letting my hands, pressure, and muscle memory guide the form instead of my eyes. It was surprisingly grounding, forcing me to slow down and really listen to the clay. Moments like this remind me how much pottery is about feeling rather than control. When you remove sight, you become more aware of balance, thickness, and movement. The result may not be perfect, but the experience itself opens up a deeper understanding of the process — and sometimes, that’s more valuable than the finished piece
