Urban Meyer stepping away from OSU

(4 Dec 2018) Ohio State head football coach Urban Meyer is retiring after the Rose Bowl. Meyer has said he suffers from debilitating headaches caused by a cyst in his brain. Meyer also faced heavy criticism this season for his handling of domestic violence allegations against a now-fired assistant coach. "You do have to wonder if the fact that his reputation has sort of been soiled led him to this point to a certain degree. And again an emotional guy, a guy who has a lingering health condition and you do wonder if all the pressure and everything that's been sort of thrown at him made him think this is a good time for me to leave this situation," said Ralph Russo, college football writer with the Associated Press. Meyer is leaving at the top of his profession after three national championships in a career spanning three decades, the last seven years at Ohio State, where he has an 82-9 record.
