It determines how much a material resists the movement of electrons. The unit of resistance is Ohm (Ω). The formula for resistance is: R = V/I where R is resistance in ohms, V is voltage in volts, and I is current in amperes. Resistance also depends on the material's dimensions and resistivity: R = ρ (L/A) where ρ is resistivity, L is the length of the material, and A is the cross-sectional area. Resistivity is a material-specific property that quantifies how strongly a given material opposes the flow of electric current. It is independent of the shape and size of the material. The unit of resistivity is Ohm-meter (Ω·m). The formula for resistivity is: ρ = R (A/L) Materials with low resistivity, like copper and silver, are good conductors of electricity, while materials with high resistivity, like rubber and glass, are good insulators.
