The RCG online Study Weekend included an overview of the special Study Weekend trip to the Netherlands which took place in June last year, followed by talks from three speakers focusing on project case studies of positive examples of responses to the climate emergency. The South Campshire flood protection scheme: Karol McCusker (AECOM) talked about the South Campshire flood protection scheme that has integrated flood risk management solutions within the public realm, enabling the local community to continue to enjoy the use of the riverside location. Shoreline erosion reduction at Portrane: Kris Calder (RPS) discussed the long term proposed innovative solutions to reduce the rate of erosion along the beach at Portrane. Sustainable Development Goals: Howard Clapp (Mott MacDonald), currently based in St Vincent’s, shared an exemplar project he worked on that achieved several Sustainable Development Goals that illustrates how sustainability can be better incorporated into engineering projects.
