#CosmosFlowers are more than just pretty garden additions; they have a rich history and unique characteristics that make them a favourite for both beginner and expert gardeners. The name Cosmos comes from the Greek word #Kosmos, which means order, harmony or the world. Spanish priests in #Mexico named the flower because of its perfectly symmetrical and evenly spaced petals, which they felt represented the orderly nature of the universe. Cosmos are famous for being low-maintenance. In fact, they actually prefer poor soil. If you give them too much fertiliser or grow them in soil that is too rich, the plants will produce lots of green leaves but very few flowers. They are also highly drought-tolerant and can handle extreme heat. #CosmosAtrosanguineus, commonly known as #ChocolateCosmos, actually has a fragrance reminiscent of #DarkChocolate or #Vanilla. Unlike other cosmos that grow from seeds, this rare variety grows from tubers. It was once extinct in the wild and only exists today because it was cloned in 1902. In Mexican culture and tradition, cosmos are often seen as a spiritual bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. Due to their vibrant colours and airy nature, they are often used to decorate altars during Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) to help guide spirits back to their loved ones. The petals of #CosmosSulphureus (the yellow/orange variety) are edible and are often used in salads or teas in countries like #Thailand and #Indonesia. Historically, these same yellow and orange flowers were used as a primary source for natural dyes for wool and silk. They are one of the best flowers for attracting #Bees, #Hoverflies and #MonarchButterflies to a garden. Visit: www.houseplants.co.in WhatsApp https://wa.me/918687369040 Call +91 8687369040
