Hello, Hurricane Season!

1987: So Long, Dr. Frank! At the end of May 1987 Neil Frank served his last day as Director of the National hurricane Center after thirteen years on the job. Ileana Bravo reported on his farewell party for WTVJ-4, noting that his tenure had been relatively quiet hurricane-wise. Frank joined the National Hurricane Center as a forecaster in 1961, and in the story names Hurricane Camille as the most outstanding storm of his career, calling the storm, which killed 295 people in 1969, "awesome." After retiring from the NHC Frank became chief meteorologist for KHOU-TV in Houston, Texas, retiring from that job in 2008.
