Brief back yard operation of the homebrew 80m portable SSB rig. The main purpose was to test the new ATU with the built in digital SWR meter ready for an up-and-coming tramp. The antenna is a 19.8m longwire, and the ATU is a high impedance configuration. The QSO runs up to the 12.20 minute mark, so feel free to skip that. At 12.20 minutes there is a brief run down of the rig, antenna and ATU. I acknowledge the antenna is too short for 80m, but that was the aim. The idea is to get a simple antenna of reasonable length for portable operations in the New Zealand bush.
