Hi there friend! "What is this all about?" you may ask. Well I stumbled upon this musical in Japanese, and quickly found myself in a deep rabbit hole trying to understand and learn the songs. But since I do not know either Japanese or German (or any of the other languages you can find this musical in) I decided to translate my favourites for myself. I tried to stay as faithful to the original Austrian version, but through the lens of the Takarazuka revue and my Norwegian understanding of English. I know, it's a mess :P I'll make a video about my intentions for the translations, what my thoughts are, why I love the musical and so forth at some point. No pressure ;) And In the meantime if you have any question or thoughts, don't be shy and comment down below. So yeah, please enjoy this fan translation of Elisabeth the musical as I interpit it. Court Mistress: She's preoccupied your Majesty. But speak through the door, she will hear you Franz Joseph: I've just come to tell you I will do what you decide I can't stand no longer to not have you as my bride Together we'll make your wish come true For I belong to you I trust you to teach our son Rudolph to be a man My mother will obey your word when it's my command I'll do whatever you want to For I belong to you Since I was a boy I have trained to be cold, and not let emotions persuade But now that you've showed me what love's really like I'll stand by your side unafraid Elisabeth: As much as it pleases to hear what you have to say you must understand that I no longer will obey I'm breaking out of this repression For I belong to me Elisabeth: You crave my acceptance but first you must comprehend If we're to be equals you must choose to be my friend You can not control me, you will never own me for I belong to me Death: If they would take a look And see what they try to confine The stardust that you weave Whenever you're allowed to shine You belong to me Franz Joseph: I'll do what I can manage To give you an advantage Elisabeth All: belong to me
