The Conjuring: Last Rites trailer just dropped, and this is supposedly the final time we’ll see Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) on screen. And this time, they’re going all in—violence, bloodshed, gore… it’s looking darker than anything we’ve seen in this universe before. The story dives into the infamous 1986 Smurl Haunting case in Pennsylvania, where an eight-member family was tormented by a demon for 12 years. And this wasn’t just your regular haunted-house setup. This thing mentally and sexually abused every single person in that family—kids, parents, everyone. That’s how twisted and disturbing this case is. When the Warrens finally show up, they not only confirm the demonic presence but reveal this was their very first demonic case, back when they were still young. And of course, things escalate—the demon doesn’t just stop with the Smurl family, it goes after Ed, Lorraine, and even their daughter. Now, I’ll be honest—the trailer itself didn’t fully grip me at first glance. But when I slowed it down and looked at certain shots, it gave me a glimpse of what made The Conjuring 1 and 2 so special. Multiple spirits flashing across the scenes—the main demon, Annabelle, that creepy old woman, and a few more twisted entities—this could bring back that classic Conjuring tension we’ve been missing. I really hope this one delivers because it’s the last ride for Ed and Lorraine on screen. Cause Conjuring 1 and 2 set the bar high, but after that, James Wan passed the torch and the magic kinda faded. Let’s just hope Michael Chaves doesn't ruin our Last Rites experience.
