This pie filling doesn’t require an actual pie crust. It’s great straight out of the slow cooker, but for the best tasting dish, I do recommend using a pie case. Making use of a pie maker will help make preparing and cooking pies a lot easier. Chips, salad or even some cauliflower cheese, are some great side dishes that you can have with this slow cooker steak pie. I find it great on its own, but some sides do help if you need to feed a lot of people. The ingredients for this steak pie filling are right below. The pie case is entirely optional, but I recommend it for the best experience. 1kg chuck beef, cubed 2 onions, diced 2 tsp. garlic, crushed 2 tsp. dried thyme 1 Tbsp. dried parsley 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 500ml (16.9 fl oz) beef stock Pie Case 2 sheets Puff Pastry 1 Egg beaten Thickener 4 Tbsp. cornstarch ¼ cup water For some extra flavor and nutrition, you can add some vegetables to the pie mixture. Peas and diced carrots are an excellent addition to this lovely pie filling. The thickening stage of this recipe is crucial if you want a nice and thick filling. I recommend at least four tablespoons of cornstarch to achieve the best consistency. I hope that this video has been able to guide you through the steps to making this slow cooker steak pie filling.
