Hours after resigning as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina's aircraft landed at Hindon airbase where Indian Air Force officials received her. Hindon Airbase was chosen for her landing at Palam Technical Area because she is no longer the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. Hasina departed from Bangabhaban for a "safer place" as protesters closed in on the premier's official residence. Hasina was forced to flee as dadly protests rocked Bangladesh for a month and killed nearly 300 people. Student groups have been protesting against reserved quotas in government jobs. Later, Bangladesh's Supreme Court scrapped most quotas.
