Reports from the Tindouf refugee camps in southwestern Algeria described scenes of celebration among residents after the UN Security Council adopted a resolution reaffirming support for Morocco’s autonomy plan as the most credible framework for resolving the Sahara dispute. According to the Forsatin Forum, a group representing Sahrawis who back the Moroccan autonomy proposal, several residents set off fireworks and held spontaneous gatherings following the UN vote on Friday night.
