A man was arrested after assaulting his ex-partner with a piece of wood and threatening her with a sickle in Trairi, last Sunday (7). According to information gathered by Jornalismo da Jangadeiro, the suspect was in the city to visit his four children with the victim. But, during the visit, he allegedly had a fit of jealousy and started an argument, which escalated into physical violence. According to the victim's account, the man attacked her with a piece of wood and then grabbed a pickaxe to continue the threats. She managed to escape before being hit by the object. According to the Civil Police, after the crime, the suspect allegedly tried to flee, but was restrained by the victim's family until a police team arrived. In his statement, the suspect claimed that there were aggressions from both sides and denied using the pickaxe during the incident. TV Jangadeiro has learned that, after his arrest, he was transferred from Trairi to Fortaleza, where he remained temporarily detained at the Arrests and Interpol Police Station (Decap). The victim was sent for a forensic medical examination. Investigations also indicate that the assaults, threats, and insults allegedly occurred in the presence of the couple's minor daughters.
