2026-01-24 8:30 am. Saturday celebration of the Holy Mass.

Good morning everyone and welcome to the celebration of the Holy Mass on this Saturday of the second week of Ordinary Time. Today is the Memorial of Saint Francis de Sales who was one of the principal leaders of the Catholic Reformation. Appointed bishop of Geneva in 1602, Francis reorganized the diocese, reformed religious education, established a seminary and founded schools. He was beatified the year he died, 1622 - the first formal beatification to take place in St. Peter's - and cannonized in 1665. In the reading from the Holy Gospel today, Saint Mark tells of when 'Jesus and the disciples went home; and the crowds came together again, so that they could not eat. When his family heard it, they went out to restrain him, for the people were saying, "He has gone out of his mind."' The Responsorial Psalm is Psalm 80: "O God, let us see your face that we may be saved."
